Fukagawa was a wasteland of the seaside where reeds grew up to about 400 years ago. This area was pioneered by Hachiroemon Fukagawa in the Edo period and was named "Fukagawa Village" from his name. It is said that this is the origin of Fukagawa.
After that the maintenance of the Onagi River and Genmori River and the relocation of the temple advanced, many people emigrated, Edo culture prospered.
